My 10 Top Reasons for Using Twitter
In my post about the Triangle Tweetup yesterday, I explained a little about what it is and why it matters. But today, I’m sharing my top 10 reasons for using it. I like Twitter because I can:
1. Connect with people at all different levels of the entrepreneur world—including the gurus you’d usually have to pay to see speak.
2. Build a rapport with people I’ve met elsewhere, learn more about who they are and what they’re doing, and offer helpful suggestions.
3. Snag a last-minute opening to be interviewed on an internet radio show when the scheduled guest has to cancel.
4. Discover what people are really talking about—get great tips and links to check out. (Although you do have to be careful here about not losing track of time…)
5. Drive traffic to my blog by tweeting links to my blog posts. (It has been feeding ezine signups as well.)
6. Set it up to automatically feed into my Facebook account, saving me from going there every day.
7. Find answers to questions I’m not finding elsewhere.
8. “Socialize at the water cooler,” so to speak, so I don’t feel quite so isolated typing away in my home office.
9. Network locally, as was the case for the TriangleTweetup. People also sometimes tweet where they’re going to be, inviting anyone nearby to join them.
10. Get an account and get going in about two minutes, unlike other social applications like Facebook.
It’s not for everyone, but if you are interested in checking it out, you can find me at www.twitter.com/tlneedham.
